Harvesting Vegies & Healthy Eating

On Saturday we harvested our first ever potatoes. We were so excited. There's not many there, I wish we had of planted more, because they are the best ever tasting potatoes I have had in my life. We cannot wait till next year to plant more. They also were so easy to grow surprisingly, just put them in the ground and leave them for about 3 months, if you are thinking of growing them, I say give them ago you'll never go back.

Jett also finally got his home grown carrots. Right from when we first started growing our own vegetables, Jett has wanted to grow carrots. Well he has and here they are. What more could you want.

So over the last three months I have decided to look at eating even more healthily than I do. I have discovered lentil burgers and they are so healthy, yummy, easy to make and cost next to nothing to make, so why wouldn't you want to eat them.

I have cut out store bought bread from my diet completely and only have homemade or organic rice cakes. I also make sure what I eat is of good quality. I have been feeling so much more energy and not so sluggish and bloated in the stomach. If it grows in the ground or on a tree...I will eat it! No more additives, preservatives, numbers...numbers...and more numbers. Since eating even more naturally and doing 30mins walking every couple of days, I have lost 5 kilo's and haven't felt better since... when...I can't remember.

Jett, Snakes & Crafting at Easter

Over the Easter break I knitted and sewed some more dishcloths.

I knitted Jett a snake.

Bunnings had a reptile show.

Jett loved all the reptiles.

Especially the snakes. This is first time he has touched and held a snake.

Fences

Our fence...it has been like this for the 10 years we have lived here. I have dreamed of a new fence for so long.

My good hubby spent the Easter break building our new fence.

He has never built a fence before.

We think he did an awesome job. We love our new fence. It's so neat. Thankyou Sweetheart xoxo

Winter Garden

We planted half and half with the carrots there are seedlings and seeds in the ground.

These are the snow peas.

These are the first of the beans to start growing. Very crunchy and sweet.

Our lemons are on track.

All the seed potatoes are in. At the back of them is Capsicum and to the side is Rasberry.

Sandpit

We have been wanting to build a sandpit for Jett for a long time now, but where to put it. We wanted it tucked away somewhere out of the sun, in the backyard so when we are doing our gardening Jett was where we could see him. We decided underneath the back stairs was the perfect spot, lots of area for him to play, tucked away to the side of the house and out of the sun. So dad and the chickens started clearing the area, pulling out the shrubs and leveling out the dirt.

I ordered the sandpit sand and the truck delivered it.

We lined it with black plastic all around.

Then added all the sand.

Voila!! one new awesome sandpit for Jett in the backyard. Thanks dad (and the chickens) xoxo

Presents and Chickens

Our niece had her birthday party yesterday at the park, she had a great day. How gorgeous is the present we made for her. Teagan has her own business it's called T-dye for Clothing. All of the clothes are are so beautiful. She does such a great job.

Rosie & Dad

This is my hubby Garry with the new addition to our family. Her name is Rosie, she is so big and black and beautiful. When we got her the other day she fitted in real well with the other chickens then that afternoon when I was upstairs and was busy doing some sewing while hubby picked up Jett, she broke out through the back of the hen house, Jett and I went door knocking in the street behind us but no one had seen her so we thought she was gone, then 9.15pm that night a lovely lady turned up saying she had Rosie in their house, thankyou was all I could say I couldn't believe we found her. I rushed to her place and got her, she was shaken but fine. She was very happy to get home with the others and has been perfect since. Now just waiting for some of her yummy eggs.
