Capsicums

On the weekend we harvested our first homegrown capsicums, very crispy, yum. Kids were very excited. Homegrown is definately best.

Composting, Worms & Naughty chickens

Jett & I had a great morning at a composting & worm farming workshop. Very informative. Will be trying to get those happening over the following weeks.

Jett asked the lady when it was finished: now do we get a worm after listening to you talk? She then gave Jett one of her worms to take home, he named it slippy & made a home like she explained.

Let the chickens out for a play & it's my fault completely, I have been letting them out & going upstairs, they got into the garden & ate all the lettuces & ate some of the rasberries & pretty much just scratched up the whole garden aarrgghh.

Rockmelons

I went to the fruit & vegie shop yesterday & would you believe they gave me a free rockmelon because I spent over $20.00, I laughed as we had just harvested our rockmelons this week. We have never grown them before. 9 in total, they are delicious.

This week I have been making Jett his next season's clothes. I have already been through a lifetime of clothes with the two older kids (20yrs & 17yrs) & from experience know that you don't need to spend lots of money on little kids clothes it's just wasteful. I can make Jett 8 sets of mix & match shorts & t-shirts for under $35.00. So what I do is go searching at the op shops (one of my favorite things to do) and look for 8 good quality pillowcases, which I then make into shorts (big comfy baggies we call them) and I get 8 of the plain coloured t-shirts from Target when they have they're end of season sale for $2.87 each, then I get transfer paper from Spotlight and transfer all his favorite characters, shows whatever he is into at that time (his fav is Jetson's at the moment), and print them on his t-shirts. He just loves them and gets so excited.
